Stages et milieu de l'édition
 Les abus des stages, ça vous dit quelque chose ? Mes années d’études à Sciences-Po m’ont au moins appris une chose : le principe même du stage repose sur l’exploitation. Qui parmi vous accepterait de bosser à temps plein pour € 300 maximum par mois ?
Je sais ce que certains vont répondre : que le stage permet de mieux connaître le monde de l’entreprise, que tout le monde y gagne, employeur et stagiaire, etc…. Bullshit, tout ça. S’il y a bien une chose que 99% des stagiaires apprennent, c’est qu’ils ne seront pas embauchés à l’issue de leur stage. Pourquoi je parle de ça, me direz-vous ? Après tout, les stages ne m’ont jamais concernée : j’ai toujours refusé d’en faire pendant mes études (acte héroïque de résistance !). De plus, les Anglais ne connaissent même pas le principe du stage : à la fin des études, beaucoup postulent pour un poste de « graduate trainee » où ils sont (très bien) payés ET formés. Et non, ça n’existe pas uniquement dans le domaine de la banque et de la finance (exemple ICI). Comme quoi, le capitalisme sauvage est bien du côté français… Si je parle des stages aujourd’hui, c’est parce que le milieu de l’édition en raffole. C’est d’ailleurs au moment du salon du Livre que j’ai découvert le blog de Julie. Elle a gentiment accepté de répondre à quelques questions sur son expérience de stagiaire : 1. Peux-tu te présenter brièvement ? « Après un cursus strictement littéraire dans le but d'être enseignante (khâgne, hypokhâgne, maîtrise de Lettres Modernes, Capes) j'ai décidé de partir un an au Canada pour enseigner. A la suite de cette expérience j'ai fait le choix de réorienter mon projet professionnel vers celui de la communication. Souhaitant rester quand même dans le domaine culturel, je me suis adressée dans un premier temps au secteur de l'édition. 2005-2006 a été une année de stages pour moi. » 2. Peux-tu décrire ton expérience de stage dans l'édition ? « Mon premier stage a été chez PEMF (Presses et Editions du Mouvement Freinet) qui depuis a fermé ses portes pour des raisons économiques. J'y ai fait essentiellement de la rédaction, de la PAO dans la ligne éditoriale du mouvement Freinet (mouvement pédagogique). » 3. Quelles sont tes réactions face aux abus des stages? Que faudrait-il changer? « Une année en tant que stagiaire permet de constater les points forts et les points faibles des stages. On acquiert certes une expérience professionnelle mais à quel prix? Le stagiaire a bon dos...Il fait des horaires, se tape tout ce que les autres ne veulent pas faire, et le tout sans broncher et pour une somme dérisoire. Là où je suis en stage actuellement, (secteur : événementiel) j'enchaîne les week-ends travaillés et j'ai énormément de responsabilité. Le stage est devenu une façon de prendre quelqu'un à moindre coup, remplaçant dans mon cas un congé maternité par exemple. Je suis devenue "indispensable" dans la mesure où mon poste pourrait être celui d'un salarié et que je n'ai que très peu de suivi de la part d'un formateur. Ce qu'on devrait faire? Réguler un peu plus avec des contrôles pour s'assurer que le stagiaire n'a pas un rôle à part entière dans l'entreprise. Refuser les conventions de plus de 4 mois, cas où le stagiaire devient un acteur dans l'entreprise. Passer les indemnités à 50% du smic MINIMUM! » Sur ce dernier point, je ne suis pas du tout d’accord avec Julie. La solution britannique me semble bien plus équitable. Mais soyons honnête : il n’y a pas eu besoin de loi pour imposer le système des « graduate trainee schemes ». Les Anglais sont tous simplement plus civilisés (et accessoirement, le marché de l’emploi est entièrement favorable aux salariés)…

Je suis plutôt d'accord avec ça, mais en même temps, il faut savoir dire non! Non je ne reste pas j'ai du travail, non je m'en vais j'ai mon mémoire à préparer, non je pars à 17h parce j'ai un rendez-vous avec mon directeur de mémoire.
Je pense que de toute façon on n'a rien a perdre à dire non de temps en temps si c'est justifié, et cela peut faire changer le regard des collaborateur sur le "ptit stagiaire du coin près de la fenêtre".
C'est ce que j'ai appris pendant mon alternance et mes stages.
Mais je crois que je suis en ce moment dans un cas de figure pire... :
Je suis stagiaire au service édition d'une des plus grosse boite de com et... je n'ai rien à faire. Victime d'un maître de stage très possessive et de services très cloisonnés... je passe des journées entières à... ne rien faire ( juste des dessins sur le coin de mon cahier). Alors oui de temps en temps on me confie un petit truc, mais étant habituée aux petites boites dans lesquelles j'avais la place d'un salarié et demi... et bien ça fait drôle!
Enfin, voilà ma galère du moment!

Le cercle vicieux est à l'oeuvre dans de nombreux domaines : hormis quelques pistonnés (qui souvent se foutent un peu du sort des subalternes), ceux qui sont en poste en ont bavé, ils ne voient pas pourquoi ce ne serait pas (au moins) aussi dur pour les nouveaux arrivants !
Une sorte de bizutage professionnel à durée... indéterminée.
(NB : attention toutefois à ne pas comparer des programmes "graduate trainee" en Angleterre et le monde sinistré de l'édition ou des agences de com en France. Ici aussi, ces programmes existent. D'ailleurs... ils ont souvent un nom anglais ;-)

Tous mes stages ont été de l'exploitation au sens où j'avais autant de travail qu'un employé voir plus. La stagiaire qui reste à glander n'a jamais été mon cas. C'est quoi dans le détail la solution britannique?

@Prix de flore + Julie: c'est vrai que les postes de "graduate trainees" sont rares dans l'édition et de la com.
J'ai une copine qui travaille dans l'"event management": elle a commencé par une année de césure en entreprise après sa première année de fac. Elle était payée tout à fait correctement en bossant de 9h à 17h. Maintenant, elle travaille en free lance (mais rien à voir avec un emploi précaire, vu son salaire...)
Pour résumer le système anglais:
_environ 20% des graduates trouvent un poste de "graduate trainee" (bien payé mais horaires extensibles)
_les autres trouvent des postes "juniors" en entreprise ou en free lance, mais SANS passer par la case stage.

L'entreprise n'a aucune vertu intrinsèquement. Il ne faut pas me prêter ta pensée magique (qui consiste à dire que l'état est l'incarnation du bien, de la vertu et de la poursuite du bonheur - cf. les guerres, entre autres).
J'aurais deux choses à dire : personne ne te force à faire un stage (cf. wrath) et ce système est en fait dû à l'action de l'état. Dans le système que j'appelle de mes voeux, le droit du travail serait uniquement contractuel, et ce serait donc aux individus à savoir ce qu'ils sont prêts à faire et à quel prix. Nul doute que les stages gratuits disparaîtront rapidement.

La plupart des Ecoles impose un stage, donc ce n'est pas un choix personnel. c'est vrai qu'à Sciences Po, ils sont assez libertaires là-dessus (seul point positif de cette Ecole...)
Mais je pense effectivement que les étudiants devraient refuser les stages l'été (qui permettent en fait à l'entreprise de remplacer en partie le personnel parti en vacances, pour une somme dérisoire...) Quant aux stages après les études, laissez moi rire...
