Vous vous demandez ce que vous allez lire cet été ? Ne cherchez plus, l’Académie Goncourt a décidé pour vous. La sélection de 14 livres a l’air particulièrement alléchante, pour qui aime les «fils à papa » et les nombrilistes…  Commençons par la seconde catégorie, avec « J’étais derrière toi » de Nicolas Fargues. Ce magnifique exemple d’autofiction narcissique a battu tous les records : il m’est tombé des mains au bout de 2 pages…Il n’y a pas de chapitres, pas de pause, juste un long monologue monstrueusement chiant. L’ « histoire » ? le narrateur s’est fait plaquer, il souffre beaucoup, sa vie est trop dure.
D’où les plaintes incessantes, du type : « à aucun moment je n’ai vraiment pensé à me faire prescrire du Prozac parce que j’ai, au fond, je crois, un ego surdimensionné [on avait remarqué !] qui me fait toujours maintenir la tête hors de l’eau et et toujours retomber sur mes pattes, quoi qu'il arrive. Mais aujourd'hui, j'ai compris qu'il y a des douleurs mentales qui sont trop fortes, trop lourdes à supporter, et qui, à la longue, peuvent vraiment finir par te faire lâcher prise. Et que, contre ces douleurs, la médecine occidentale a exploité des molécules qui peuvent te rendre la vie moins insupportable »
Oui, je sais, c’est affligeant…Mais passons à la catégorie « fils de », représenté par l’inimitable Gaspard Koenig, collaborateur régulier au Magazine littéraire (que Papa dirige!). « Un baiser à la russe » accomplit une véritable prouesse : c’est aussi creux qu’une autofiction sans en être. Il y a même un ersatz d’intrigue : Clara, l’héroïne, est une jeune femme belle et fougueuse. Elle tombe amoureuse d’un jeune Russe mystérieux et hémophile. Leur histoire sera tragique...
Visiblement, Gaspard Koenig veut s’assurer une place au chaud à l’Académie française. Avec des phrases comme celle-là, il est bien parti pour y arriver : « La plaine moutonnait sur leur passage, montrait ses dentelles un court instant, et se refermait sans bruit »
La question que je me pose (et à laquelle vous avez peut-être une réponse !) est la suivante : pourquoi Fargues et Koenig n’ont-ils (pratiquement) que des critiques positives ? S’agit-il d’une forme d’indifférence molle et consensuelle de la part des journalistes ? D’un effet de mode ? Ou se pourrait-il qu’ils aiment vraiment ce genre de prose illisible ?

Tout simplement, on ne met une critique negative qu'aux auteurs importants. Si le livre d'un auteur majeur deplait a certains critiques(et je suis tente de dire que c'est forcement le cas), alors il auront droit a une critique negative. Mais pour des minus comme Fagues ou Koeng, l'ignorance est de mise.
Plus interessant: Doit-on en deduire qu'en les attaquant tu les a fait passer au rang d'ecrivains importants?

Importants, ils le deviendront peut être un jour...en travaillant beaucoup! Je n'ai pas lu Koenig mais j'avais le Fargue en main, il était en tête de gondole à la FNAC et les critiques étaient bonnes. Je le prends, j'ouvre, je feuillette...Cà ne me dit rien. J'insiste, plantée devant le rayon, mon panier de légumes entre mes jambes. Rien à faire, çà ne me parle pas. Je l'ai mis dans ledit panier, j'ai erré dans les rayons et au final, je l'ai reposé. Comme je ne fonctionne que comme çà (la phrase qui accroche et te donne l'envie d'en lire plus), j'ai renonçé. Peut être n'étais-je pas tombée sur la bonne phrase...

De toute façon, à part quelques très rares personnes (Thomas Gunzig, Michel Houellebecq) et quelques livres ponctuels (Court serpent - Du Boucheron, O.N.G. - Gran, Un héros très discret - Deniau), la littérature française est morte et enterrée.

Les deux me sont tombés des mains aussi. C'est vrai que c'est du typically hype French  Moi, ça m'emmerde, ce genre de litterature. Mais à croire qu'en France, ça plait beaucoup. Why ? On pourrait en discuter des heures.

Je pense aussi qu'il y a une sorte de complexe dans le milieu face a ce genre de livres.
Je m'explique: Un individu lambda lit une tres bonne critique de, disons, Fargues, dans le magazine litteraire. Comme il a des pretentions intellectuelles, en bon bobo parisien qui vode Delanoe, il achette. Et la, au bout de trois pages il s'endort tellement le bouquin est ennuyeux.
Et bien, il ne va pas aller racconter a tout le monde qu'il s'est endormi! De quoi aurait-il l'air? Non, il va dire "ouaaaaaaa c'etait suuuuuuper beauuuuuuuu, avec une esthetiiiiiiiqueeeeeeeu vraiment sooooooommmmbre" etc....

Je l'ai lu. Pas mal, mais quelques problèmes (à mon sens) : trop prévisible (la gamine qui est détestée, la fin, etc.), peu crédible (son état d'esprit nous échappe), trop autobio (manifestement), tu racontes trop et ne montre pas assez (show, don't tell), parti pris du narrateur (surtout dans le choix des qualificatifs, à vrai dire ça sent l'exagération, l'émotion (pas dans le sens Cartland, entendons-nous) ne passe pas en balançant des briques à la tête du lecteur), digressions trop lâches par rapport au texte et surtout n'apportant rien ni à l'histoire ni à la compréhension de la psyché (bombes H, par ex.). Néanmoins, je me souviens avoir écrit des choses similaires il y a bien longtemps. Je crois que c'est la lecture de Dostoïevski qui m'a permis d'évoluer ; quand on débute on a toujours l'impression qu'il faut en faire des tonnes, puis on finit par découvrir la force d'une situation, plutôt que la force d'un mot. Enfin, ce n'est que mon avis, et dit sans la moindre volonté de blesser, faire chier, ou n'importe quelle autre pensée négative. Bàt.

@Gadrel: WRATH est la première nouvelle que j'ai écrite, depuis je me suis (un peu!) améliorée. Sur tes critiques:
_sur le côté prévisible: si on veut être réaliste, il y a tjrs un aspect cliché. Je préfère parler de thèmes vrais, quitte à courir ce risque...
_autre chose, ce n'est absolument pas autobiographique. J'ai eu une adolescence très calme et solitaire, pas violente comme celle de Prune. Et je ne me coupe pas

Bien joué pour Nicolas Fargues...
Pour ce qui est des journalistes, j'ai trois idées :
1)Ils sont attirés par le prestige d'éditeurs historiquement snobs comme Grasset ou POL, ou Minuit.
2) Voir photos Koenig et Fargues...ça fait de bons, (et beaux) clients en télé, en radio, ou sur un magazine.
3) La prose de ces messieurs ressemble à celle des journalistes, surtout ceux qui veulent être écrivains (soit 80% d'entre eux) = faussement stylée et creuse, comme une jolie coquille vide.
